Mirror v1.51 ------------ Author: Paul Bowlay E-Mail: otser@yahoo.com WebURL: http://members.xoom.com/otser/ Legal And Distribution Info --------------------------- Please refer to the document named "Legal.txt" in this archive. By using this program, you signify that you have read and agree to all the terms and regulations set out in that document. Introduction ------------ "Mirror" is a thinking game like a jigsaw-puzzle for your Psion 3c. You have to put a broken picture back together by telling the Psion how many pieces to "mirror" (ie. reverse their order) from one end of the screen to the other. Installation ------------ (1) Create a directory called "Mirror" inside the "App" directory of any disk of your Psion 3c. The program does not write to this disk when running, so you can safely install it to a Flash SSD if desired. (2) Put the eight image directories ("Barn", "Cross", "Default", etc) inside this "Mirror" directory. Put the "Mirror.pic" file there too. (3) Put the "Mirror.opa" file inside the "App" directory of the disk you chose. (4) Install the program icon by pressing Psion-I at the System Screen. Using The Program ----------------- UPGRADE NOTE: If you get a "Field Not Found" error when you first run the program, you'll need to delete a config file from your 3c's RAM disk: "LOC::M:\APP\Mirror.ini". After deletion, the program will run without any problems. Sorry for the inconvenience! :( When you first run it, you will see a broken Christina Applegate and it's your job to put her together again. :) This is how the game works: You press a number from 2 to 6, which tells the Psion how many pieces you wish to "mirror" (ie. reverse their order). For example, press "6" and note that ALL the pieces get mirrored. Now press "3" a few times and you'll notice that only 3 pieces get mirrored each time. You'll also notice that the mirroring process starts from alternate sides of the Psion's screen. The side chosen is the one that the small arrow (top-right of screen) is facing. The left side is always the starting side when you start a new game. When you first run the program, you're playing on Easy Skill. This means you can mirror from 2 to 6 pieces at once. Selecting Hard Skill means you can only mirror 3 to 6 pieces at once, which makes it harder to restore the picture. There's also one other skill: Chaos Mode. Chaos Mode means that the pieces will become invisible at random times to keep you on your toes -- so you'd better have a good memory! If you want a REAL challenge, try doing the "Rain" picture on Hard Chaos mode! :) To change pictures, press Psion-P (or use the menus) and select any directory name that appears. The directory named "Default" must never be deleted or the program won't run. You can delete all others if you want to save disk space. If you'd prefer a certain picture to be the new default, just delete the "Default" directory and rename one of the others to "Default". The current picture used, piece positions, and skill settings are saved to your Internal RAM disk when exiting (using only 1 K). TO CREATE YOUR OWN PICTURES: There's another program in this archive called "Cutter". Install it inside an "App" directory somewhere (best to use Internal RAM disk) and follow these steps: (1) First: Note that only single black pictures are used (not black and grey). This is done for speed, and saving memory/disk space. (2) Copy the "Mirror.pic" file from this archive to somewhere where you can edit it with a drawing program. NEVER change this actual file itself -- only draw on a copy of it! (3) Draw (or paste) a picture into the empty boxes of it. Then save the image to your Psion's Internal RAM disk and NOWHERE else. This is important because the file must be able to be deleted afterwards, and it's where "Cutter" will look for the picture. (4) Run "Cutter". It will ask you to locate the directory (and disk) where you installed the "Mirror" program. Select it and press Enter. (5) "Cutter" will now ask you to select the drawing you made on your Internal RAM disk. Select it and press Enter. (6) "Cutter" will now cut the drawing into pieces that can be used by "Mirror" when you play. When this is done, you have the option of cutting another image or quitting, as well as deleting the original if desired. When done, quit "Cutter" and try out your new picture! :) ======================================================================
