Benefits of membership

The Symbian Foundation is committed to moving the platform to open source during the next two years, with the intent to use the Eclipse Public License. This will make the platform code available to all for free, bringing additional innovation to the platform and engaging even a broader community in future developments.

Membership to the foundation is open to all companies for an annual subscription of $1500 USD + 15% VAT (where applicable). Benefits include:

  • rights to license the Symbian Foundation platform, royalty free and without source code fees
  • modification and distribution rights to other Symbian Foundation members
  • access to council meeting minutes, deliverables and roadmaps
  • rights to actively participate in Working Groups and Annual Member meetings
  • access to branding, marketing, legal and Business Development support
  • voting rights and eligibility for nomination to Board and Council seat elections

But joining the foundation is more than this. You will be sending a clear signal to your customers and the industry that you have made a commitment to supporting the world's leading Mobile OS.

We will provide tools to help you drive your own community initiatives, to leverage the power of Open Source and identify new business models. You will have access to the foundation's large marketing resources providing you with events, networking and business opportunities and the best resources for your developers, all in one place.
