FileLink creates links to files on a Psion 5 in a similar way that Windows95 uses shortcuts. That is, a file, which when run, will open up another file. The program is freeware and copyright J.D.Medhurst 1998 -------------------------------------------------------- Limitations... What FileLink WILL do: * Create links to any file which can be opened by tapping it in the system screen. * Create links to other files if you have a program that responds to requests to open them. e.g. VReader5 can be used to open plain text files. What FileLink will NOT do: * Create links to folders * Create links to files if the program you select to open them with can't handle that type of file; OR it ignores the request from FileLink to open them. In these cases the selected program will run but will not open the file you want. Such programs include Web, which won't open HTML files. :( -------------------------------------------------------- NOTE - If you already have version 1.00 of this program which was called 'Shortcut' then you will need to remove it from your Psion before installing this newer version. To remove Shortcut: * If you have given Shortcut a specific slot on the extras bar then you will need to set this slot to 'Any Program'. * Rename the folder \System\Apps\Shortcut to \System\Apps\ShortcutX. * Bring up the extras bar and after a few seconds Shortcut should disappear. * Now delete the folder \System\Apps\ShortcutX -------------------------------------------------------- To install this program: 1. Create a new folder in the \SYSTEM\APPS folder called 'FileLink'. If the SYSTEM folder is not visible then enable it from PREFERENCES in the TOOLS menu on the system screen. 2. Copy all the files (except SYSRAM1.OPX) from the zip file into the new folder. 3. If you don't already have SYSRAM1.OPX on your Psion then create a folder called OPX in the SYSTEM folder and copy SYSRAM1.OPX into it. -------------------------------------------------------- Revision history.
