F I N C A L C v1.0 ================== Copyright (C) Greg Love, 1998 INTRODUCTION: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FinCalc 1.0 is a fully-working shareware program which means you are free to download and try out the program, but you are asked to register your copy if you continue to use it. Unregistered copies of FinCalc contain "nag-screens" which remind you to register whenever you use any of the financial functions. FinCalc has been developed inresponse to what I perceived to be an ommission in the built-in calculator on the Psion Series 5, i.e. the lack of financial functions. In addition I found the keys too small to operate the calculator effectively... hence FinCalc! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ FUNCTIONS: ~~~~~~~~~~ FinCalc is a financial calculator which can manage most calculations invloving the time-value of money, specifically loans/annuities and cashflows. The loans/annuities function allows the input and/or calculation of any of the following variables: Present Value(PV), Payments(Pmts), Future Value(FV), period(n) and interest rate(i). In addition, it can calculate the Net Present Value(NPV) and Internal Rate of Return(IRR) for cashflows. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ IMPORTANT: ~~~~~~~~~~ FinCalc has been extensively tested, however the author (Greg Love of London, England) shall not be held liable in any way for any damage that may occur to you and/or your system(s) or anyone else as a direct or indirect result of viewing or using or attempting to view or any reliance placed on this programme and/or any associated files. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1) Make sure that you can view the "System" folder on your Psion. To do/check this: Press the "System" icon (in red) on your Psion, Press "Ctrl+K" or select the "Preferences" item from the menubar (under the "Tools" section). Make sure the item "Show 'System' Folder" has a tick-mark in it's corresponding box. 2) Create a directory called "FinCalc" which has the following directory structure: "c:\System\Apps\FinCalc\" To do this: Navigate to the root directory (which is usually called "Internal") where you should find at least the "Documents" and "System" direcory's. Select the "System" directory and press enter. Next, you should find the "Apps" directory (amongs't others), Select this by pressing "Enter". Press "Shift+Ctrl+N" and type in "FinCalc". 3) Download the zipped file and save it onto your computer (any directory, just remember which)! 4) De-compress the zipped file. 5) Copy the downloaded files onto your Psion (using PsiWin most probably), into the directory created above. 6) By pressing the "Extras" button, you should now see the FinCalc icon which will start the programme! 7) Don't forget to register! ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ HOW TO REGISTER: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1) You can use RegNet, whereby you could have your registration code within 24 hours! The address you should use for this service is: http://www.swregnet.com/2193p.htm OR Compuserve members can use their Software Registration system by typing 'GO SWREG', selecting 'Register Software' and entering FinCalc's product ID 17142. This method of registration should have a 24 hour turn-around time as well. OR Email me and I will send postal payment instructions to you (include your postal details if you do not have ready access to email). 2) If you could mention how you heard about the programme, I would appreciate it. 3) Registration costs £10 (UK), $15 (US) or FF100 (France), payable in one of these currencies or the equivalent in your home currency. Note that if you use RegNet you will be required to pay an additional $3 (reflecting 50% of their charges), in which case it will cost $18. 4) Once your payment has been received you will then be sent a user ID via e-mail (or by post if preferred, BUT if by post, don't forget to include a stamped, self addressed envelope). 5) When you receive your user ID: a.Open FinCalc, b.Press Ctrl+R, or from the menu bar select Tools, Register, Enter Registration ID, c.Type in your registered "User Name", and d.Enter your registration ID in the User ID box. 6) Company/multi-user use of FinCalc requires individual registration for each copy. However, I do offer significant bulk-discounts on FinCalc's list price. Please contact me (see above) to take advantage of this. 7) Registered versions have no "nag" screens, and users will be able to enter up to 120 cashflows (compared with 4 for unregistered versions). They will also be entitled to all future minor upgrades of this programme for FREE!. And will be notified of any major upgrades (available off this website) prior to general release. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ HISTORY: ~~~~~~~~ 15 May 98 - Fixed some minor bugs in the IRR calculation (now managing multiple cashflow sign changes much more rigorously). 11 May 98 - Added a "Calc" option from both the Loan and the Cashflow Dialog Boxes, to allow the calculation of n,i,PV,Pmt & FV directly from the Loan entry screen and NPV and IRR from the Cashflow entry screen to improve the programmes interactivity. - Revised Help file to expand definitions. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ FIRST RELEASED Tuesday 5th May 1998 FinCalc and all the associated files are Copyright (C) Greg Love, 1998.
