S5BANK V1.2a ------------ This file is designed for people who are upgrading from V1.1 to V1.2. To upgrade from V1.1 simply replace all the program files with the new versions contained in this Archive. These are: \System\Apps\S5Bank\S5Bank.app \System\Apps\S5Bank\S5Bank.aif \System\Apps\S5Bank\S5Bank.mbm and any of these optional files \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Pic Opening Picture \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Help.hlp Help file \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Adv1.ovl Advanced Module 1 \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Adv2.ovl Advanced Module 2 \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Bud.ovl Budget Categories \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Exp.ovl Expense Account \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Fuel.ovl Fuel Consumption \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Home.ovl Home Inventory \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Inv.ovl Investment Tracker \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Plan.ovl Budget Planner \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Util.ovl Utilities Monitor \System\Apps\S5Bank\Acc_Prt.ovl Printing Module Just make sure at the end that all the program files have the same date The changes from V1.1 are summarised below General Comments: ----------------- 1. The main 'core' has been rewritten to be more efficient. There is no major effect on the program, it just makes me feel better. 2. All the filter routines have been rewritten, again mainly for personal pride. 3. Many areas of the program, particularly in the 'Update' routines, now amend the data directly on the disc, rather than loading it into memory, changing it and saving it again. This speeds it up considerably. 4. I have increased the maximum number of Groups to 15 as I ran out of room 5. Now I have figured out the trick to getting around the memory limitation I have also increased the number of Transactions allowed to 400 as I ran out of those as well. Too may registrations !! (Isn't it amazing how quickly things get changed when the author needs them !!) Major Enhancements: ------------------ 1. A completely new Graphical interface, based around a new opening screen. The level at which you use this new interface, from 'Always' to 'Never', is selected from 'View preferences' Settings'. 2. You can now have 4, 5 or 6 Toolbar buttons ('View preferences', 'Settings'). Thanks to Jason Kneen for pointing out how this can be done. You will see that I haven't used the extra buttons yet, I thought I would ask the users what they wanted (very democratic). So E-Mail mew with your suggestions for the extra buttons. 3. You can now have multiple Budget groups and multiple Shares groups. Ideally I wanted the Budget Group to be selectable at Transaction level, but that is a non-starter at this stage. I did think having each Account allocated a Budget Group would work, but then Standing orders and Default Transactions fall apart. So in the end they are allocated at Group level under 'Preferences'. Not ideal, although very good if you want to use separate Category sets for 'Business' & 'Pleasure' for example. I think most of the new Menu options are fairly obvious and are in the Budget and Shares modules. One 'odd' one is that when you enter the Archive screen it will display categories based on the Group from which you arrive, which may not be correct. So I have added a 'Switch Categories' menu in that screen, 4. Major improvements to the Planner module so that it now supports Income as well as Expenditure, and the "Auto reconciliation" system can either Replace the value, as before, or be added to the current figure. (Note that this has resulted in a need to reenter some of your data. All reconciled entries will now show as Income and need to be reentered.) 5. A new "Move Group" option has been added. Hopefully this will finally stop the problems that have been caused by people moving the Document file from within the System screen :-) 6. You now have the option of having program prompt you on startup if there are Standing Orders that need doing, rather than actioning them automatically. It actually defaults to having this set as I now think it is such a good idea. 7. Each Account and Expenses trip can now have an associated Archive file that will be selected automatically when 'Archive Transactions' is selected. Select it in the "Advanced" option when Entering or Updating an Account. 8. You can now Export from filtered screens, in the Transactions, Archive, Expenses and Expenses Archive screens, to give you even more flexibility, particularly for Quicken transfers. Also, a new option to Export ALL the Accounts in one go has been added. 9. The automatic display of reconciled balance, if reconciled entries are present, can now be disabled. For that reason, the Reconciled balance is now an additional option for the "Total Window Display". 10. A Hot-key has been implemented to bring the program quickly to the foreground. (Ctrl+Fn+B as default) 11. A new Icon strip at top of Accounts screen for quick pen/pointer access to modules has been added. Switchable using 12. "Jump to Date" option added to the Transaction screen, as 400 entries is now quite a lot to look through. 13. A new option has been added to the Transaction screen which will sort the entries so that all reconciled entries appear at the beginning. 14. If there are more than a screenful of entries, a counter is added to the screen. Fixes and minor improvements ---------------------------- 1. The Share graph now doesn't redraw when you PageUp/PageDn through the History file 2. When budget categories is selected the total value now appears at the top of the dialog, to save you having to remember it. 3. The Reset Budget option now has some additional options to improve flexibility 4. The "Pay Bills" option now allows the Standing Orders/Scheduled Transaction to have the date of the Order or today's date. 5. If "Auto-step on reconcile" is selected it now skips over all reconciled entries and finds the first non-reconciled one. 6. Estimated Interest can now be added in multiples of weeks as well as months and years. 7. The "Find Item" in the Home Inventory now searches the Serial Number field as well. 8. If the Reference field in a Transferred Transaction is not used for anything else, the other Account name is put in. 9. If an Auto-Number is selected in the "Advanced" option when entering a transaction, the actual number it will appear in the Reference field on return to the main dialog. 10. The Utilities module now has an underline function 11. "Attributes" and "Amount" have now been added to the Filtering dialog. 12. Hitting 't' on a transaction changes date to today. 13. The Standing Order Info screen has been enhanced. 14. The scroll bar now has variable length slide bars.
