About ----- PScrawl is a program for the Psion Series 5 which allows a primitive form of handwriting recognition. The handwriting is 'drawn' a single character at a time into one of two boxes. The left box is for alpha characters, and the right box is for numeric characters. Each character is considered to be 'finished' by the Psion as soon as the pen is lifted and so a specially designed character set must be followed by the user. As you write, teh text you write will appear on the 'notepad'. This text can be editied from the keyboard. Once you are happy with the text you have entered - the text can be sent to any other application (Registered version only). Installation ------------ After downloading the program, unzip the file and place all uncompressed files in c:\system\apps\PScrawl\ on your Psion. Getting Started --------------- The first thing you should do after running the program for the first time is read the help file (select 'Help" from the 'Tools' menu). Failing that, you should run the 'Practice' mode to learn the special character set. Registration ------------ PScrawl is shareware - the only limitation on the unregistered version is that you cannot send the text you have entered to any other application. You will also encounter a 'nag' screen on startup. You can register by credit card through regnet, details to be available within a day or two. If you absolutely cannot register by credit card on-line, please send me an email, and we can make other arrangements. Registration costs just $25 US. Limitations ----------- The main limitation right now is speed. Believe it or not, PScrawl is written in OPL32 and so would benefit hugely from being rewritten in C++. Once I have enough registrations to buy the C++ SDK, this is what I intend to do (no promises). Send email to : GDAlldread@iname.com This software is Copyright 1997 Gareth Alldread.
