PC with Windows 95/98 or Windows NT ====================================== Install PsiWin 2.0 or newer. After installing PsiWin 2.x run our installer again. If you've installed PsiWin 2.0 our installer will add the Epoc Installation extension which was introduced with PsiWin 2.1. The file "\EpocInst\epocinst.pdf" on the CD-ROM describes the Epoc Install program. If you don't want to install PsiWin 2.x, continue reading at "5. Series 5 SIS installation". 2. Macintosh ============ If you have MacConnect installed, you can use it's support for SIS file installation. If you don't have MacConnect, continue reading at "5. Series 5 SIS installation". The "\Sis\App\Street.Sis" file contains the bare application, this must always be installed. The "\Sis\Map" folder contains all of the maps. This folder is initially divided into individual countries, and each country folder is divided into regions. Each of these region folders contains the individual city maps. E.g. if you want to install Benidorm, you have to install the file "\Sis\Map\Spain\Alicante\Benidorm.Sis", as Benidorm is in the region Alicante. Please note that the file names are abbreviated to eight characters. E.g. "Antwerpen" is abbreviated to "Antwerpe". This is to done to ensure that the CD-ROM can be read by almost any computer system. See also the file "Short.Txt". You should install at least one map. 3. PC with DOS, Windows 3.x, OS/2, Linux or other ================================================= Continue reading at "5. Series 5 SIS installation". 4. Acorn, Amiga, Atari or other ==================================== Continue reading at "5. Series 5 SIS installation". 5. Series 5 SIS installation ============================ You must be able to copy files from your computer to your Series 5. Check if your Series 5 already has the Add/remove icon installed in the Control panel. If the icon is not present read "5.1 Installing Add/remove icon", otherwise skip to "5.2 Using Add/remove icon". If you don't want to do a Series 5 SIS installation, continue reading at "6. Completely manual installation". 5.1 Installing Add/remove icon ------------------------------ Copy the file "\Instexe\Instexe.exe" on the CD-ROM to the "\" (root) folder on your Series 5. After copying, locate the file "Instexe.exe" in the System screen on your Series 5. Select the file "Instexe.exe" and look at its properties (System menu : File/Properties). If the Read-only flag is set, you must deselect it. (See also "8. Read-only files"). Now run "Instexe.exe" on your Series 5 (select it and press ENTER). After a few moments the file "Instexe.exe" should disappear from the System screen. If you look again at the Control panel, you will see that the Add/remove icon is added. Continue at "5.2 Using Add/remove icon". 5.2 Using Add/remove icon ------------------------- If you have the Add/remove icon in your Series 5 Control panel, you must copy SIS files we've supplied on the CD-ROM to the "\" (root) folder on your Series 5. After copying, locate the just copied SIS file in the System screen on your Series 5. Select the file and look at its properties (System menu : File/Properties). If the Read-only flag is set, you must deselect it. (See also "8. Read-only files"). Select the file again and press ENTER. This will start the installation. When the installation is complete, the SIS file will be deleted from your Series 5. For more information, read the file "\Instexe\Readme.txt" If you don't want to do a Series 5 SIS installation, continue reading at "6. Completely manual installation". 6. Completely manual installation ================================= This section describes how to manually install the application and maps onto your machine. It assumes that you are able to copy files from your computer onto your Series 5. 6.1 Manually installing the Application ======================================= Create a folder "\System\Apps\Street" on your Series 5. If you don't see the "\System" folder, change the "Show 'System' folder" setting in System menu : Tools/Preferences. If you want to use an Dutch user interface, copy all files from the CD-ROM folder "\App\Dutch" to the "\System\Apps\Street" folder. If you want to use an English user interface, copy all files from the CD-ROM folder "\App\English" to the "\System\Apps\Street" folder. If you want to use an French user interface, copy all files from the CD-ROM folder "\App\French" to the "\System\Apps\Street" folder. If you want to use an German user interface, copy all files from the CD-ROM folder "\App\German" to the "\System\Apps\Street" folder. If you want to use an Italian user interface, copy all files from the CD-ROM folder "\App\Italian" to the "\System\Apps\Street" folder. If you want to use an Spanish user interface, copy all files from the CD-ROM folder "\App\Spanish" to the "\System\Apps\Street" folder. After installing the Application you will need to install the Add/Remove Icon to your machine. Refer to section 5.1 for instructions on how to do this. 6.2 Manually installing the Maps ================================ Once you have manually installed the application you will need to install at least one Map. The "\Sis\Map" folder on the CD contains all of the maps. This folder is initially divided into individual countries, and each country folder is divided into regions. Each of these region folders contains the individual city maps. E.g. if you want to install the city Opera, you have to install the file "\Sis\Map\Italy\Milano\Opera.Sis", as Opera is in the Milano region. Decide which city you want to install. On the Series 5 create a subfolder in the "System\Apps\Street" folder with the same name as the city. E.g. if you want to install the map of Opera you should create the folder "System\Apps\Street\Opera". Copy all files from the corresponding CD-ROM subfolder to the just created Series 5 folder. E.g. to install the map of Opera you should copy all files from the CD-ROM folder "Sis\Map\Italy\Milano\Opera.Sis" to the "System\Apps\Street\Opera" folder on your Series 5. Please note that the file names are abbreviated to eight characters. E.g. "Fraserburgh.Sis" is abbreviated to "Fraserbu.Sis". This is to done to ensure that the CD-ROM can be read by almost any computer system. See also the file "Short.Txt". Note: To install a Sis file you will always need double the Sis file size available as free memory. For exapple the Rome.sis file is 2 megabytes so you would need 4 megabytes of free memory to install this file. In some cases this may create problems when installing the larger Sis files onto machines without much free memory. For these cases we have included the larger maps as non-Sis files that can be copied directly onto your machine. These map files are found on the CD in the "\Map" folder with the same folder structure described above. Thus to install the Rome map without using the Sis file copy ALL of the files in the "\Map\Italy\Roma\" folder on the CD to "System\Apps\Street\Roma" on your Series 5. 7. Uninstalling =============== 7.1 Uninstall using Add/remove icon ----------------------------------- If you installed the program using PsiWin 2 or did a SIS installation on your Series 5 using the Add/remove icon, you can uninstall the program with the Add/remove icon. Start Add/remove in the Control panel, select the program you wish to uninstall and choose "Remove". 7.2 Uninstall manually ---------------------- If you did a manual installation, you must also do a manual uninstallation. If you don't see the "\System" folder, change the "Show 'System' folder" setting in System menu : Tools/Preferences. Remove the "\System\Apps\Street" folder, including all files and subfolders in it. If the files can't be deleted because they are Read-only, read "8.Read-only files". 8. Read-only files ================== Files stored on a CD-ROM are read-only files. You can't change or delete them, as the medium CD-ROM doesn't allow this. If you copy a file from CD-ROM to your PC or Series 5, the file will most often remain read-only. You can remove the Read-only flag of a file on your Series 5 by selecting it and look at its properties (System menu : File/Properties). If the Read-only flag is set, you must deselect it. This is also described in your Series 5 manual.
