Net Nanny for Windows '95 INSTALLING NET NANNY Installing Net Nanny to run in Windows '95 is a very simple process. However, to ensure that Net Nanny will run properly on your system you should follow the directions closely to ensure that they are performed in the specified order. Net Nanny can be successfully installed by following the steps to install the DOS portion first and then the Windows portion. NET NANNY FOR DOS The DOS Version MUST be installed before Net Nanny for Windows 1. Insert the Net Nanny administration diskette into your 3.5" floppy drive. 2. Click on the "START" button located on the Task Bar at the bottom of the Windows '95 screen. 3. Select "RUN" from the task list. 4. Click on the "BROWSE..." button located in the bottom right corner of the "RUN" dialog box. 5. Click on the pull down menu next to "Look In" at the top of the "BROWSE" dialog box. 6. Select the 3.5" floppy drive from the pull down menu. 7. Click on the Install icon in the Browse file view box. 8. Click on "OK" in the "RUN" dialog box. You should now be running the Installation program from the DOS version of Net Nanny. In this section the mouse is not active, use the up and down arrow key to highlight an option and press to select it. 1. Press to continue past the ** Notice ** screen. 2. After Net Nanny has been successfully installed, press to continue. 3. You MUST now add words and/or phrases to the Dictionary before Net Nanny can be used. NOTE: Please see the User Guide for details on how to configure Net Nanny after installation. After you have made entries in the Dictionary, press the ESC key to save and exit the Dictionary. 1. Select "QUIT" from the Main Menu. 2. DO NOT Choose "Reboot Now". 3. Use the Tab or right arrow key to Select "Exit Without Reboot" from the "Reboot" screen and press the Enter> key. 4. Remove the Net Nanny administration disk from the Floppy Drive. 5. From the Windows '95 Task Bar, Click on the start button and choose "Shutdown". 6. After Selecting "Shutdown" from the Start menu, select the "Restart the computer ?" option and click on Yes. The computer will automatically Reboot and start Windows '95. When Windows '95 restarts, a message dialog box will appear indicating that a new DOS device driver (NNDRV) has been installed and may decrease system performance. This is a normal Windows '95 message and occurs whenever a new DOS Device driver is added. If you choose not to monitor DOS programs run from Windows '95, you may remove the line c:\nn\nndrvr.sys" from your config.sys file. NET NANNY FOR WINDOWS 1. Insert the Net Nanny administration diskette into your 3.5" floppy drive. 2. Click on the "START" button located on the task bar at the bottom of the screen. 3. Select "RUN" from the task list. 4. Click on the "BROWSE..." button located in the bottom right corner of the "RUN" dialog box. 5. Click on the pull down menu at the top of the "BROWSE" dialog box. 6. Select the 3.5" floppy drive from the pull down menu. 7. Select "setup" from the file view box and click on "OPEN" 8. Click on "OK" in the "RUN" dialog box. From the Net Nanny Windows administration program; 1. Click on "OK" to install Net Nanny. 2. Wait for Net Nanny to self-install. 3. Click on "OK" to restart windows. INSTALLATION COMPLETE When Windows '95 restarts, Net Nanny for Windows is active. Be sure to read the manual on how to use and maintain Net Nanny. You should also remember to keep the Net Nanny administration diskette in a safe place where it will not be lost or accessible to unauthorized users.
